Router Bases

Peel Off Masking Tape

Most laser cut material, including the acrylic we use for your router bases, come with a layer of masking tape on at least one of it’s sides. Some have both sides covered. This is to ensure that the masking gets any burned marks and not the materials.

You will need to remove this mask tape prior to use. If not removed, it may come loose and start peeling off itself and/or may leave a sticky residue on your materials.

Please start with a small, flat putty knife or screw driver to get it started along an edge, then peel the rest off by hand to help eliminate any scratches.

Base Screws & Holes

Please do not over tighten screws onto router base-plate insert. Screws may be nylon or metal and base-plate insert is acrylic.

Round screw cutouts on acrylic insert could and may break over time or by over tightening, but know that the screw should still hold insert onto base-plate.

I am currently searching for new screws which have a thin head as this will eliminate the need of countersinking the current screws which will result in a stronger base.

Replacement screws for smaller base insert for fixed and plunge routers, can be purchased from me.

Base Sanding

Please note that the center and outer edges and screw holes of the base plate may need some sanding as they may feel rough or have sharp edges from the as a result of the laser engraving process.

Use of a utility knife or flat/slot head screw driver may be needed to scrape along the center counter-sunk edge
to clear it of debris and to allow the guide bushing to seat flush with the base plate bottom.
