Product Arrived With Burn Marks
Some times using the laser can have unforeseen issues. A common one, especially when laser engraving, seems to be burning of edges or leaving areas of discoloring, or blackening. A lot times the blackened or burned areas are likely to be limited to the masking tape layer applied to the product. In fact, this is the reason for the masking tape layer in the first place.
Though, it some cases, the burning may be directly on the part. This is especially noticeable when the laser needs cleaning or the fans are not working as they should. In these cases, some edges on, like with Acrylic materials, could melt or be distorted. Please know that we would never send out any products that any issues which would prevent them from working as they should. All products have been tested to fit or function.
While is this does not look pleasant, please be assured that it WILL NOT effect the performance of the product. Some times, especially on full product builds, I will have sanded down those burned areas before shipping. However, at certain times, we have sold products with these issues/marks at a discounted rate, as they do still function/fit as they should and are perfectly fine in every other way. We always provide info about the burn marks prior to selling any products with these issues.
Build Yourself Kits
Because of the nature of a build it yourself kit is one that you build yourself, and has been priced to bare that fact, parts that are burned will most likely be left alone. One or two areas may have been sanded or the masking tape may have been removed enough to determine if the quality of the part is in question. If it is determined to not be satisfactory, it will be replaced prior to shipping. If you find that a part needs replacing due to any reason, please contact me and I will do what I can to help you.
